Michelle: Typically, because there are so few symptoms and it is hard to diagnose, FHC tumors are usually quite large and have invaded the lobes of the liver. My son's initial tumor was over 19 cm and approx. 70% of his liver was removed. The FHC diagnosis is made based on the fibrous make-up of the tumor. Perhaps, yours was diagnosed at an early stage? There is so little info on this disease it's hard to know. It sounds like you have been through quite a bit!!!! Where are you being treated? I know cisplatin has been tried in the treatment of FHC but I have never heard of mitomycin. Do you mind me asking how old you are? The key is to find doctors who know FHC and are not trying to treat FHC as if it's traditional liver cancer. FHC is nothing like traditional liver cancer and does not respond to the drugs used to treat it. Did they find any affected lymph nodes? I'm glad you found this site!!!! Take good care!!!! Susie
