tumor spread to blood vein, lung too

Hi everyone...
I've just come back from a specialist with my dad- who has primary liver cancer which has possibly spread to the lungs.
The surgeon said the tumour has now gotten into the liver blood stream, and so surgery is not possible.
We will go to see an oncologist to see what we can do about it.
He still drinks a lot of wine- 1 bottle a day, and has only just quit smoking (2 weeks?).
His stomach has started bloating a lot, and he can't drink or eat anything...
I'm afraid we probably can't cure him... but if anyone could give us any suggestions to help him improve i would be ever so grateful...
