hi to both of you,i hope i can help a little bit.I have to mention that i had fibrolamellar ca,3 inch big,1 lymph node next to my liver and a thrombosis of the portal vein. The only solution was transplantation. Anyway, susie is right, there are in our body[in blood] some microscopic cancer cells that cannot be removed ofcourse by surgery.the only way is with chemotherapy. But our tumor is resistant on any chemotherapy apart from nexavar. Nexavar might be usefull but doctors are not sure for that since there are so few patients and it is hard for a rehearsal with nexavar and placebo pill. But we hope that it will help us like it is effective in hepatocellular ca. The main side effects of nexavar are diarrhoea and the hand-foot syndrome[blisters in hands and feet with unbearable pain].But these side effects are in full dosage[4 pills a aday].I take 2 pills and can handle it.
As i told you we dont know if it is helpfull with us,so it is not possibleto know for how long we have to take.. The only thing we know is that with resection or transplantation there will always be some cells that can cause a reoccurence and our only weapon is nexavar. I hope it helps, sorry for my english, but i am greek.. theo
