Aimee: I'm so sorry he's feeling so horribly! I don't know the effects of radiation and IV Gemzar, but do know that Ben has some of those symptoms from the Nexavar and he's only on 200mg per day. He doesn't eat much--can only eat small amounts at a time and has trouble sleeping. He doesn't have trouble drinking. The pharmacist told him that Nexavar can cause dehydration so to be sure to drink plenty.
As far as a juicer-I bought a champion juicer on e-bay last summer for $80 plus shipping. It was used but works great. It's a masticating juicer--so it retains the nutrients for up to 24 hours. It also makes the most delicious "ice cream" with frozen fruit which Ben loves. You can buy them new for about $200 but the machine is a workhorse and will last for years. I can help you if you'd like.
After I bought ours, I found one at an estate sale--the people had no idea what it was and sold it to me for $5. I gave it to a friend who also has cancer--but that was sheer luck. Lately Ben hasn't been able to tolerate the juice either (intestinal difficulty) but now I'm hooked on the juicing for myself! Stay strong!!! Susie
