Hi Alison, sorry to hear you've also got this. It just is'nt fair! I'm based in Portsmouth; I was with Southampton Hospital but have been transferred to Basingstoke where I can get this 'hot' chemo flush. I first had symptoms 6 months ago when I developed a lump where my liver is. There were sharp pains but mainly just discomfort. The lump remained and about a week later I had blood coming through. I believe this is when the tumour ruptured. Before the operation I had gone for scans (Ultrasound, CT and MRI) At first I was diagnosed as having two tumours on my liver. It was assumed to be HCC and that a straight liver resection would be sufficient. On operating (at Southampton) they found that it had ruptured and spread into my abdomen and onto the peritoneum. Basically they will operate to remove any macroscopic growths and then wash out my innards with a powerful chemo mix at 45 degrees Celsius. They will likely leave in drains to flush my system for 5 more washes, depending on what I can take. Once I have recovered I will try a more traditional chemo regime. Still need to find out what specific drugs they will use. I met for the first time with the surgeon yesterday so it’s very much in its infancy. Just trying to stay positive and to find out as much as possible.

What were your symptoms, if your not going down the chemo route how are you going to tackle this? I've also heard that chemo has not been traditionally affective against FHC. I have so many questions and hope to stay in contact.

All the best
Warren
