Hi Amanda, You've probably read a couple of my posts on this site, my husband Marcilio has FHC and had an 18cm tumor removed from the liver in Nov, 2006. In March, 2007 he had two new tumors in the liver and one lymph node was cancerous. So his doctors at Univ. of Michigan put him on a 7 week radiation plan with Gemzar as the IV chemo. I think radiation is a good option especially when the tumors are still small-even if they are not limited to the liver anymore. Our radiation oncologist said there is a 50% response rate and when you add chemo to it the chances are even higher so my husband didn't think twice about doing it. The side effects are very tolerable and he's in his 5th week already! We won't hear about the tumors till after everything finishes. Also, about Nexavar, yes there was a good Phase III trial for it wherein the majority of subjects had tumor shrinkage or stop of growth, but it definitely hasn't been successful in erradicating the tumors. Last week his doctors offered him Nexavar in addition to the Gemzar...finally! So he's taking it orally twice daily and no side effects so far. But his chemo oncologist said that alone it wouldn't be very effective but since he's getting radiation the NExavar is a "radiosensitizer" that would essentially make the tumor cells even more susceptible to the radiation, which is good. Well, that's all I have for now, please feel free to email me with morequestions. Aimee
